Responsibilities

Directly manage team of Production Engineers and Operations-focused Software Engineers

Enable and empower team members for high performance results

Provide encouragement and support surrounding employee skill development and objective/goal setting

Deliver performance appraisal feedback, coaching and counseling to employees

Define, adhere to, and reinforce code standards and best practices

Provide technical support, training, and guidance to team members

Define and report appropriate metrics and KPIs to leadership and internal stakeholders

Coordinate and collaborate with other teams to correct or improve network performance

Provide continuous oversight and improvement to work processes and standards

Create practical solutions to complex problems

Required

5+ years progressive leadership experience in systems or network operations, engineering, or closely related field(s)

5+ years’ experience in an Enterprise Network environment

5+ years’ experience in a UNIX/Linux environment

Hands on experience with monitoring tools and working in a large (1000+ physical and virtualized) complex operations environment

Experience with PCI DSS or other compliance framework experience (SOX/Sarbox, GLBA, HIPPA, etc.)

Experience with external vendor management and partnership

Experience leading teams using Scrum/Agile methodology

Strong ability to read and write scripts (Bash/Perl/Python/etc.)

Knowledge of Unix or Linux administration troubleshooting methods

Intermediate to expert knowledge of Network elements, Protocols, Services, Transport layer, firewalls, load balancers, IDS, routers, switches, VLAN and Internetworking protocols (BGP)

Familiarity with web delivery concepts, technology, and applications, including apache/nginx, caching, performance tuning, monitoring, and security

Strong understanding of DNS systems and how they function

Familiarity with database technologies (MySQL, MSSQL) and DNS administration

Scripting and automation knowledge (PHP, BASH, Perl, python)

Ability to communicate clearly with all levels of employees

Ability to achieve specific results with little direction and maintain high degree of self-motivation and independent decision making
