Responsibilities
You will apply engineering principles and methods to problems relative to metals, ceramics, glasses, and polymers.
Support materials testing and characterization for multiple research programs.
Be the subject matter expert on processing of materials such as metallic and non-metallic.
Review requirements, designs, codes, tests, and documentation.
Provide production parameters to keep consistent quality and performance on materials.
Lead in technical design and testing committees and provide insight and direction to ensure development projects are being solved for customer.
Provide technical solutions and position us for potential new programs.
Maintain product configuration management.
Update product and materials specifications.
Procure items according to Product Configuration Management requirements.
Enhance inter-group interactions and teamwork to increase awareness of department capabilities and collaboration and identify important areas to enhance activities within the department to meet sponsor needs.
Oversee the successful execution (cost, schedule, environmental compliance, quality assurance, and safety) of assigned projects.

Required
Level 2: Bachelor's and 2 years, Master's and 0 years, PhD and 0 years, degree in materials science and engineering or in a related engineering field from an ABET accredited institution.
Level 3: Bachelor's and 5 years, Master's and 2 years, PhD and 2 years, degree in materials science and engineering or in a related engineering field from an ABET accredited institution.
Experience commensurate with level which may include experience in experiments and/or computational areas.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy 'L' clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Preferred
Developing flight qualified space flight hardware.
Thermoelectric materials
Materials selection for development programs (Al, Ni, Stainless, ceramic, composites)
Model material properties and aging under various temperatures extremes for metallic and non-metallic such as composites and ceramics.
