Responsibilities
Processes and tests all types of laboratory specimens.
Reviews and reports lab results.
Performs operational duties, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
Acts as a resource to other laboratory personnel.

Required
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Human Sciences or education and training in the military as a Medical Laboratory Specialist required
Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by a nationally recognized agency/board
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by a nationally recognized agency/board
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist/Scientist in a hospital laboratory setting
Ability to work independently, effectively manage time and prioritize daily tasks, and work within a team
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
Basic computer skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area (B = 3.14r2), circumference and volume (V = 4/3pr3)
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases
Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to work in a stressful environment
Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds
