Responsibilities

Develop and review transportation design plans, including roadways, intersections, and traffic control systems
Utilize CAD and Open Roads software to create detailed engineering drawings
Perform capacity analyses and traffic simulations to evaluate proposed transportation improvements, potentially conduct traffic impact studies and analyze traffic flow patterns to optimize transportation networks
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate transportation designs with other infrastructure projects
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations and standards
Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and project documentation
Assist in the development of sustainable transportation solutions to address environmental concerns
Participate in client meetings and public presentations to communicate project details and gather feedback

Required

BA/BS + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
5+ years of previous design experience on transportation projects including Schematic Development and Preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E)
Professional Engineer (PE)
Experience designing highway/roadway systems
Experience with design software including MicroStation and GEOPAK and/or OpenRoads
MS Office 2010 software (Excel, Word, Project) is required
Knowledge of local Illinois and Chicago Department of Transportations.
