Responsibilities

Performs office and field engineering work involved in planning, scoping, designing, permitting, and rehabilitating or constructing various public infrastructure projects.
Engages with clients and stakeholders, provides customer service, and ensures compliance with relevant regulations and codes.
Prepares design drawings, reviews developer applications, and oversees municipal maps and records.
Assists in the preparation of resolutions, ordinances, reports, and public correspondence related to engineering projects.
Evaluates engineering matters, develops solutions, and maintains effective relationships with various stakeholders.
Manages multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prepares reports, and contributes to the advancement of resilient communities.

Required

Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related field, from an ABET accredited four-year college or university.
Five (5) plus years of related Civil Engineering work experience serving municipal, county or state governments, and other public agencies.
Licensed Professional Engineer (NJ, NY and/or PA) or ability to acquire PE through reciprocity.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Organizational skills related to office records, field documents, and correspondence.
Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
A passion for contributing to environmentally sustainable solutions and familiar with the seventeen (17) world Sustainable Development Goals.
Thorough knowledge of the principals, practices, modern methods, techniques of civil engineering related to preparing plans, specifications, designs for and inspection of public improvement construction projects.

Preferred

Comprehension of hydraulic analysis and design pertaining to water, sanitary sewers and storm sewer systems and hydraulic modeling experience a plus.
Detailed knowledge of Municipal Land Use Law, Local Public Contracts Law, NJDEP regulations, NJDOT standards, AASHTO, and MUTCD.
Fundamental knowledge of ESRI GIS systems and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D design and drafting plans.
Computer skills, specifically proficient use of Microsoft Windows, Office 365, and ability to learn new software.
Certified Municipal Engineer (CME) certification through the NJ Municipal Engineering Institute.
Master of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental, or a related field, from an ABET accredited college of university.
Membership and active participation in professional societies and associations in the Municipal, water, wastewater, bridges/highways, or stormwater fields.
