Responsibilities
Input, update, and maintain network configuration and inventory data within theVerizon FUZE platform
Validate and verify data accuracy, ensuring alignment with Verizon CND standards and protocols
Ensure all network data entries adhere to Verizon’s quality standards and regulatory requirements
Generate and update detailed reports on network design and inventory changes
Participate in team meetings to provide updates on data entry tasks and flag potential challenges
Systems Integration Support: Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate data from various network systems into the XNG platform. Identify and troubleshoot discrepancies between physical network inventory and digital records
Network Design: You'll design telecommunications networks that can handle voice, data, and video traffic efficiently. This includes planning the layout of network elements such as routers, switches, servers, and cables
Implementation: You'll be responsible for deploying network infrastructure according to the design specifications. This involves configuring hardware, installing software, and ensuring connectivity across the network
Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Networks require ongoing maintenance to ensure optimal performance and reliability. You'll monitor network performance, diagnose and resolve issues, and implement upgrades as needed
Security: Network security is critical in telecommunications to protect against cyber threats and unauthorized access. You'll implement security measures such as firewalls, encryption, and access controls
Collaboration: Work closely with other teams such as software developers, system administrators, and customer support to ensure seamless integration of network services and applications
Compliance and Standards: Adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements is essential. Ensure that network designs and implementations meet these standards. Conduct regular audits of network records to identify and rectify errors or inconsistencies
Emerging Technologies: The telecommunications industry is constantly evolving with advancements like 5G, IoT, and SD-WAN. You'll need to stay updated with these technologies and their implications for network infrastructure
Documentation: Maintaining accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps is crucial for efficient operation and future upgrades. Maintain documentation of processes and workflows related to data entry and management
Customer Support: Providing technical support to customers and internal teams is often part of the role, especially in diagnosing network-related issues and proposing solutions
Continuous Learning: Given the rapid pace of technological change in telecommunications, ongoing learning and skills development are essential to stay ahead in your field

Required
Minimum of 5 years of experience in data entry or network engineering within the telecommunications industry
Proficiency in using the XNG platform for network data management is required
Proficiency in using the Verizon FUZE platform for data management is required
Technical Skills: A strong understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, and subnetting. Knowledge of telecommunications protocols like SIP, MPLS, and VoIP is also beneficial
Experience: Relevant experience in network engineering or telecommunications is needed. This could include internships, co-op programs, or previous employment in IT or network-related roles
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Network engineers need to diagnose and resolve complex network issues efficiently. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential
Communication Skills: Effective communication is crucial to collaborate with colleagues, vendors, and clients to design, implement, and troubleshoot network solutions
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data management tools
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Understanding of Security: Knowledge of network security principles and practices is important to protect telecommunications networks from cyber threats
Knowledge of Industry Trends: Stay updated with emerging technologies such as 5G, SDN (Software-Defined Networking), NFV (Network Functions Virtualization), and IoT (Internet of Things), which are transforming the telecommunications landscape
Continuous Learning: The telecommunications industry evolves rapidly. A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development is needed in order to stay current with new technologies and industry trends
Preferred
Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, telecommunications, or a related field is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with Verizon’s Core Network Design (CND) systems and workflows
Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent, is preferred
Project Management Skills: Familiarity with project management methodologies can be beneficial for managing network upgrades, installations, or expansions
