Responsibilities

Drive sales targets for your territory. This involves developing and executing sales strategies to increase revenue growth.
Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, retailers, and other key stakeholders in the pet food supply chain. This includes regular store visits, phone & video calls, and emails to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions.
Actively seek out new business opportunities by identifying potential customers and partnerships within the territory. This could involve prospecting, cold calling, and networking.
Develop sales forecasts and strategies for the territory based on historical data, market trends, and customer insights to align sales activities with overall company goals.
Support and train distributors and retailers on product features, benefits, and selling techniques. Ensure they have the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively promote and sell Smalls products.
Work closely with the marketing team to execute promotional campaigns, product launches, and other marketing activities within the territory. This may include organizing events, trade shows, and demonstrations.
Monitor market & industry trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to provide insights and recommendations. Regularly report sales results, market conditions, and customer feedback to the wider Smalls team.
Manage budgets related to sales activities, including expenses for travel, sales promotions, and customer engagements.
Address customer issues and resolve complaints promptly and effectively. This requires excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams to find solutions.
Ensure all sales and marketing activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.

Required

You have worked in a similar role before.
At least 3 years of experience as a Territory Sales Manager in the Northeast.
You have a valid driver’s license and a car.
You reside in one of the following states: PA, NY, VT, NH, NJ, MA, ME, DE, MD, WV, CT, RI, VA, DC.
You have excellent communication skills.
You can manage multiple priorities.
You have a working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
You have experience with sales reporting systems.

Huge plus if you’ve worked in the pet industry!
You are a cat person.
You have a passion for cats and their nutrition.
You enjoy working in fast-paced environments.
You can strike the balance between working independently on the road and collaborating with a team.
