Responsibilities
Implement DWDM designs collaboratively with the network architecture and core teams.
Provide wavelength services to the core IP network in alignment with architecture and redundancy goals.
Automate network provisioning and turn up tasks in collaboration with systems engineering.
Oversee and install DWDM and IP network layers.
Plan and prepare detailed equipment installation specifications and drawings.
Work with third party fiber providers for successful DWDM system turn up.
Provision capacity to ensure a congestion-free and fully protected IP network.
Implement DWDM wavelengths for customers and provide OC192 circuits to TDM team.
Update and maintain accurate site records.
Standardize implementation methods and procedures for scalability.
Generate quote requests, purchase requests, and RFPs.
Attend meetings with management, departments, and vendors to meet company objectives.
Coordinate inter-departmental planning meetings for project completion.
Hand-off newly deployed equipment and customer services to Network Operations.
Support core IP network with DWDM wavelength implementation.
Ensure new IP pops are accessible post DWDM network setup.
Connect DC power connections for DWDM equipment and routers.
Travel to job and project sites as required.
Participate in on-call rotation for DWDM outages.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required
2-3 years of Optical engineering experience
Experience designing, building and activating DWDM systems for regional networks
Experience working with Adva, Infinera and Ciena DWDM systems. Both C & L band Experience a plus
Ability to grasp as-built designs and determine ideal deployment strategy with autonomy
Willingness to travel to conduct field deployments and site surveys
Strong attention to detail
2+ years of DWDM & optical transport experience required
Strong knowledge of telecommunications design, installation practices and principals required
Experience provisioning or commissioning telecommunications network elements such as routers, switches, DSLAMs, PON, TDM, VOIP, DWDM required
Experience with various equipment assets and circuit inventory systems required
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documents such as vendor deployment guidelines, white papers and configuration manuals
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills required
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within an organization
Ability to communicate with customers, vendors, etc. in a courteous and professional manner
Strong oral and written communication skills are required
Ability to operate various office equipment such as personal computer, various software programs including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Visio), and telephone systems
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills are required
Ability to work as part of a team while performing as an individual
Ambitious and goal oriented, with initiative to work until job is complete
Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends, as well as on call
Ability to drive on behalf of the company in a safe and responsible manner
Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
