Responsibilities
Design, build, configure, and manage the installation and maintenance of optical transport networks, including infrastructure setup, hardware commissioning, and decommissioning of obsolete equipment.
Execute complex work packages and network designs received via workflow tools, including:
Verifying network designs against physical networks.
Confirming material orders and work requests.
Coordinating tasks with other teams to complete work requests.
Developing and executing Change Requests, including detailed Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
Full deployment and provisioning of various optical network elements and services.
Perform scheduled maintenance window activities, including network maintenance, augments, optimizations, and troubleshooting.
Provide Tier II technical support for Provisioning, ENOC, and Operations teams.
Troubleshoot and provision key optical transport equipment, including Nokia PSS, CISCO NCS2015, and Ciena 6500 systems.
Ensure accurate documentation and ticket status reporting across all assignments.
Support break/fix incidents and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation as needed.

Required
3+ years of experience in Optical Transport deployment, operations, and maintenance.
Proven experience with optical network providers or vendors in operations or engineering roles.
Expertise in building optical networking infrastructure and working with optical networking equipment and systems.
Hands-on experience with optical transport equipment, including Nokia PSS, CISCO NCS2015, and Ciena 6500.
Familiarity with routing protocols, optical transport systems, provisioning, and troubleshooting.
Strong knowledge of OTN, SONET, and DWDM technologies.
Ability to interpret complex work packages, execute tasks independently, and ensure timely delivery of projects.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to perform critical network changes on live customer circuits without causing outages.
Ability to work in a 24/7 on-call rotation, providing support for troubleshooting and operational incidents.
Must be able to work under pressure with strict deadlines, both independently and as part of a team.
Optical Networking: 3 years (Required)
Cisco NCS and/or Nokia PSS and/or Ciena 6500: 1 year (Required)
Preferred
Experience in building and managing large-scale optical networking infrastructure.
Familiarity with common service configurations for optical transport systems.
Creative problem-solving skills with a high degree of autonomy in decision-making.
