Responsibilities
As a DBA Lead, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing databases within the AWS cloud environment, specifically leveraging AWS RDS for efficient deployment and maintenance. Additionally, you will be tasked with automating database health check reporting, ensuring proactive monitoring of the database environment for optimal performance, security, and reliability.
AWS RDS Implementation and Management: Deploy and configure databases on AWS RDS, ensuring proper sizing, performance tuning, and high availability through multi-AZ deployments.
Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize database performance, diagnosing issues and implementing performance tuning strategies. Use tools such as AWS CloudWatch for real-time performance insights.
Security: Implement and maintain robust security practices for RDS, including encryption, access control, and audit logging.
Patching and Upgrades: Plan and execute patching and version upgrades with minimal downtime, ensuring databases are up-to-date.
Database Automation: Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting and AWS CLI to enhance efficiency in daily operations.
Hybrid Storage Solution: Design, implement, and manage hybrid data storage solutions, ensuring seamless integration and performance across different storage tiers.
Team Oversight: Provide technical leadership to the DBA team, planning and delegating tasks effectively.
Mentorship: Guide and mentor mid-level DBAs, fostering their professional development and enhancing team capabilities.
Collaboration: Be the liaison between the database team and other technical and business units, ensuring alignment of database services with organizational goals.
Collaboration and Support: Work closely with developers, infrastructure teams, and system administrators to optimize database design, resolve issues, and ensure database systems meet business needs.
Documentation and Best Practices: Document all database procedures in internal Wiki, including health check reporting, automation scripts, and RDS deployment strategies, to ensure consistency and adherence to best practices.

Required
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
AWS Certified Database – Specialty, Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
Proven experience as an Oracle Database Administrator, with a focus on AWS environments
Strong knowledge of Oracle database architecture, performance tuning, and administration
High proficiency in Oracle database tools and utilities
In-depth knowledge of AWS RDS and related services with more than 5 years’ experience with Oracle in a lead role
Scripting skills for automation tasks
Understanding of cloud security principles and best practices
Familiarity with Oracle database design, coding, and documentation
Demonstrated ability to lead a team, mentor junior staff, and collaborate across departments
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
