Responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end migration of legacy on-premise Oracle databases to Azure Cloud PaaS SQL instances

Assess existing database environments, identify potential migration risks, and develop robust strategies to ensure smooth transitions

Design and implement data migration processes, including schema conversion, data transformation, and ETL workflows, ensuring data integrity and security.

Collaborate with cloud infrastructure and DevOps teams to integrate Oracle databases seamlessly into Azure architectures

Optimize and validate migrated databases for performance, scalability, and reliability in Azure environments

Troubleshoot migration-related issues and resolve performance bottlenecks post-migration

Provide guidance on leveraging Azure-native tools and best practices for data management and optimization

Document migration processes, configurations, and lessons learned to improve future efforts

Communicate effectively with clients to understand requirements, provide updates, and deliver tailored solutions

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other relevant technical discipline

5+ years of in-depth experience with Oracle databases, including administration, migration, and performance tuning

Demonstrated experience migrating Oracle databases to Azure PaaS solutions, including Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, or related services

Proficiency with tools and technologies for schema and data migration, such as Azure Database Migration Service, TOAD, Oracle SQL Developer, or similar

Strong understanding of Azure cloud services and architecture, particularly as they pertain to database environments

Familiarity with scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, or similar languages

Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on database migrations and performance optimization

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and cross-functional teams

Preferred

Experience with hybrid cloud environments or government cloud platforms like Azure Government

Familiarity with additional databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL

Oracle certifications (e.g., OCP, OCM) or Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate)

Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud automation tools

Experience with containerized database environments using Kubernetes or Docker

Active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one
