Responsibilities
Assist attorneys in managing litigation cases from inception to resolution, including case tracking, document management, and maintaining case files.
Coordinate and manage the discovery process, including drafting, reviewing, and responding to discovery requests, subpoenas, and document production.
Prepare and file legal documents with state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents to support litigation strategies and case preparation.
Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents under the supervision of attorneys.
Organize and prepare for depositions, including scheduling, coordinating with witnesses, and managing exhibits.
Assist in trial preparation, including organizing trial binders, preparing exhibits, coordinating witness logistics, and attending trial as needed.
Maintain organized and up-to-date case files, calendaring deadlines, and organizing electronic and physical documents.
Review and analyze documents for relevance, privilege, and confidentiality.
Utilize litigation support software and databases to manage and track documents, evidence, and case-related information.
Serve as a liaison between attorneys, clients, and external parties, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
Collaborate with various departments within the organization, including compliance, risk management, and operations, to gather information and support litigation efforts.
Schedule and coordinate meetings, conference calls, and other litigation-related events.
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies related to litigation and dispute resolution.
Assist in identifying and mitigating potential legal risks associated with the laboratory’s operations.
Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to litigation and legal compliance.
Provide general administrative support to the legal team, including managing calendars, scheduling appointments, and handling correspondence.

Required
Associates degree in paralegal studies or Certified Paralegal (NFPA’s PCCE or PACE)
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal, preferably in a healthcare law firm or medical laboratory setting
Strong understanding of legal processes, court procedures, and litigation practices
Proficient in legal research using online databases and legal research tools
Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with attorneys, clients, and other stakeholders
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software applications (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis, CaseMap)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently with minimal supervision
Demonstrates a high level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct
Takes initiative and is proactive in identifying and addressing issues
Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and demands
Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information
