Part-Time Payroll Manager

Responsibilities
Payroll Clean-Up: Audit and reconcile payroll records, correcting discrepancies and establishing clean, functional systems
Process Improvement: Create and document payroll processes to ensure consistency, scalability, and compliance across clients
Compliance Management: Handle all payroll tax filings (manual or automated), maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and manage SUI/SIT registrations for new jurisdictions
System Optimization: Configure and optimize payroll systems to improve efficiency and usability for both internal teams and clients
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a small payroll team, ensuring performance excellence and a positive work environment
Client Support: Act as the go-to resource for clients’ payroll-related questions, concerns, and troubleshooting needs

Required
Diverse Payroll System Knowledge: Hands-on experience with multiple payroll systems, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new platforms
Manual Payrolls: Proven ability to manage manual payroll processes where automation is limited
Manual Tax Filings: Direct experience filing payroll taxes manually, including troubleshooting and ensuring compliance
State Unemployment Insurance (SUI)/State Income Tax (SIT) Registrations: Experience setting up and managing SUI and SIT accounts across multiple states, ensuring seamless integration with payroll systems
People Management: Proven experience leading and mentoring payroll teams, fostering growth, and ensuring accountability
Consulting Exposure: Ideally, you've worked in a consulting capacity, helping multiple clients with payroll clean-up and process improvements
Proven experience in payroll management, bookkeeping and payroll processing, with a solid understanding of accounting principles
Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements
Experience with ADP Workforce Now and QuickBooks is required; familiarity with other ERP and payroll software is a plus
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with strong data entry skills
Proficiency in spreadsheet software and other proprietary tools
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues
Flexibility to adapt to changing client needs and work schedules
Ability to work a Monday-Friday scheduled with longer days on Mondays/Tuesdays
