Responsibilities
Have the ability to provide legal support to Administrative Patent Judges (APJs) by monitoring and actively participating in the deliberations of Ex Parte or Inter Partes panels and drafting, reviewing, and revising decisions to accurately reflect the panel's conclusions.
Possess the knowledge to assist APJs in conducting America Invents Act (AIA) trial proceedings, including Inter Partes Review, Post-Grant Review, and Derivation proceedings.
Are adept in researching and reporting cases to APJs, identifying any specific technical aspects or legal precedents relevant to each case.
Have expert skill in drafting comprehensive decisions, orders, and opinions for panel review, addressing complex fact patterns and intricate legal issues.
Are eager to lead others in reviewing and analyzing current and proposed patent laws, regulations, and guidelines across various technical fields, offering expert guidance on challenging issues.
Are passionate in having your contributions extend to any project critical to the PTAB's mission.

Required
Three (3) to four (4) years of professional legal/law experience (post-J.D.).
Litigation experience, appellate experience, federal court clerkship, or patent prosecution experience addressing technical issues in the area of patent law; drafting responsibility for briefs, memos, and legal opinions in the area of patent law; and conducting legal research and preparing written analysis of legal, factual, or policy issues in the area of patent law.
Possess a Bachelor's degree, Master's Degree, or Doctor of Philosophy Degree (referred to as 'degree(s)') in a Recognized Technical Subject (science or engineering).
Possess a Degree in Another Subject other than degree listed in section A that establishes possession of scientific and technical training equivalent to that received at an accredited U.S. college or university for a degree in one of the subjects listed in section A.
Demonstration that applicant has passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) test.
Provide evidence that applicant has successfully passed the USPTO registration exam.
Proof of successful completion of a law degree (J.D.).
Proof of active membership of the Bar of any state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or any U.S. territory, in good standing.
