Responsibilities
Process high volume U.S. bi-weekly payrolls for assigned business units. Activities include posting timesheets, running reports and preparing import files, processing final wage and PTO payments as needed, preparing and posting payroll journal entries in timekeeping system Deltek VantagePoint
Setup employee garnishments and respond to state agency inquiries
Prepare and distribute PTO liability, labor allocations and month-end accrual reports
Upload 401k deferrals, loans and employer match files to 401(k) provider site
Process off-cycle bonus payrolls, on-demand manual checks and tax adjustments as needed
Serve as backup and support for the processing of Canadian payrolls
Prepare and submit state mandated reports as applicable, i.e. worksite and labor statistics reports, workman’s compensation, etc.
Register and manage payroll tax accounts and new code set-ups as applicable.
Reconcile quarter-end tax returns and year-end W-2 Forms
Compile taxable wages and reconcile premium payments for private insurance plans
Balance collected funds and post journal entries for bi-weekly, quarter-end and annual taxes
Troubleshoot and resolve Federal, State and Local tax discrepancy notices
Track and allocate state unemployment insurance tax refunds to corresponding business units, updating annual state unemployment insurance tax rates as needed
Review setup of multi-state and local tax withholdings based on home addresses and work locations
Support business units with payroll-related inquiries and requests
Support data integrity in HRIS and Payroll systems by working closely with relevant team members on workflows, addressing issues as they arise. Review all employee related data in HRIS system.
Support year-end financial, 401k and workers compensation insurance audits

Required
Experience with U.S. and Canadian payroll compliance
Must be adept in multi-state reciprocity agreements and local tax withholding rules
Detail oriented, able to work well under pressure and ability to meet deadlines
Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
5 years of experience in processing U.S. multi-state, required
3 years of experience with Federal, State and Local taxes, required
2+ years of experience in using UKG Pro, required
Ability to work in a fast paced and demanding environment
Preferred
Canadian payrolls experience, a plus
Knowledge in using Deltek VantagePoint, a plus
Certified Payroll Professional, a plus
