Responsibilities

Exercise authority over project direction and high-level decision-making, directly manage project risks, and oversee the entire project lifestyle while driving project strategy.
Fully accountable for the success of the project, encompassing all deliverables, budgetary considerations, timelines, and stakeholder communications across Ames Research Center to maintain alignment with NASA’s mission and scientific objectives.
Cultivate and manage stakeholder relationships through presenting project updates, resolving high-level conflicts, and ensuring cohesive alignment between project goals and organizational objectives.
Set the long-term vision for all of OSDR, using advanced strategic planning and an eye for long-term impacts, to develop future priorities and ensure project growth.
Effectively and efficiently lead a multidisciplinary team of civil servants and contractors. Oversee contract task management, resolve conflicts, and optimize resources to ensure the team meets its objectives.
Exercise proactive risk management by identifying potential challenges early and swiftly resolving issues to maintain project continuity and ensure project success.
Act as primary liaison for external stakeholders, NASA leadership and the public community, ensuring transparent communication. Keep stakeholders informed and involved in project developments, aligning public interests with NASA’s scientific goals.
Foster broad community engagement as part of NASA’s Open Science initiative, enhancing the accessibility of NASA’s biological and omics data repositories and supporting open data sharing for scientific advancement.
Foster a culture of engagement, diversity, inclusiveness, excellence and innovation. Champion NASA's commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility to create an environment that promotes a commitment to safety, integrity, and teamwork.

Required

Participating in and contributing expertise for NASA's Open Science or similar initiative, which may include work on data and sample repositories, data curation, and open science communication/training.
Performing and overseeing data archival and scientific sample storage.
Managing multidisciplinary science and data teams.
You must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with a major in one of the following: Engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs, Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science or other field of Science, Computer Science that included 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of course work in any combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science with at least half of those hours in mathematics and statistics courses that included differential and integral calculus.
If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.
Engineering degrees earned within the United States must be from a college or university that has at least one ABET accredited engineering program.
Engineering degrees earned outside the United States must be recognized by a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA).
Science and other related degrees must have been awarded from colleges or universities that are accredited by recognized accrediting organizations.
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs.
You must meet qualifications requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
