Responsibilities

Build dynamic and interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations for various business functions.

Implement real-time Change Data Capture (CDC) and Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) patterns using Kafka or similar data pipelines.

Create optimized data models and DAX formulas to support high-performance reporting.

Connect Power BI to multiple data sources, such as SQL databases, Kafka, REST APIs and AWS Cloud integrations and more.

Utilize Power Query/M, DAX, and SQL for complex data transformations and advanced calculations.

Manage Power BI service deployments, establish security best practices, and optimize user permissions.

Work closely with data engineers, software architects, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on data requirements and project goals.

Conduct performance analysis and optimization of data models, reports, and dashboards.

Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, data flow diagrams, and report specifications.

Ability to create custom visuals using R programming language withing a PowerBI reporting environment.

Knowledge and experience of working within PowerBI workspaces, to include dataset creations, publishing of reports and end user access.

Provide ongoing support to users, deliver training sessions, and implement enhancements based on feedback.

Diagnose and resolve data-related issues to ensure data integrity, modeling integrity, and accuracy in reporting.

Participate in the deployment of services and applications in applicable environments to support data analytics and reporting requirements.

Required

5+ years of experience in designing and developing Power BI reports and dashboards.

Advanced proficiency with DAX, Power Query (M), and SQL.

Knowledge of data modeling concepts, schema design, and ETL processes.

Familiarity with data streaming technologies such as AWS, RedHat Kafka, Apache Camel or Apache Pulsar.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Must be able to achieve a moderate (Tier 2) VA position of trust

Preferred

Proven experience in real-time data integration using RedHat Kafka, Apache Camel, or similar technologies.

Ability to work under minimal supervision on complex issues to deliver great results on schedule.

Ability to work equally well as both an individual contributor and a team member.

Ability to quickly learn new technologies, frameworks, and techniques; ability to facilitate technical conversations within your team and with external stakeholders.

Keen interest contributing to and building communities in open source.

Ability to self-learn.

Experience working in Agile or SAFe methodologies.

Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or Power BI Certification.

Familiarity with DevOps for Power BI (CI/CD pipelines) is a plus.

Prior experience working with large-scale supply chain or master data management (MDM) systems.

Experience working in regulated environments (FedRAMP/FISMA, HIPAA, PCI, ITAR, etc)
