Responsibilities

Follows policies and procedures for the definition, management, protection, and efficient utilization of data and databases.

Performs database development and management activities in a safe, recoverable, and professional manner.

Establishes database management systems, standards, guidelines, and quality assurance for database deliverables.

Documents and communicates database design.

Evaluates and installs database management systems.

Codes complex programs and derives logical processes on technical platforms.

Builds windows, screens, and reports.

Assists in the design of user interface and business application prototypes.

Participates in quality assurance and develops test application code in a client-server environment.

Provides expertise in devising, negotiating, and defending the tables and fields provided in the database.

Adapts business requirements and develops data, database specifications, and table and element attributes for an application.

Determines appropriateness of data for storage and optimum storage organization.

Stays apprised of changes and innovations in Oracle’s information technology space.

Actively participates in the implementation of disaster recovery and fail-over capability.

Performs capacity monitoring and short and long-term capacity planning.

Exploits RDMS software, database management tools, and utilities to enhance database solutions.

Maintains security commensurate with legal regulations and best practices.

Participates in 24x7 on-call rotation.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or related equivalent experience and two plus year’s professional experience in database administration and software systems development.

A minimum of 10 years related I.T. experience.

Extensive experience in migrating from an On-prem DB to AWS.

Extensive technical knowledge and experience in database management techniques including physical database optimization, data distribution, database performance monitoring and data governance.

Comprehensive experience with BI stack/methodologies, Dimensional modelling.

Knowledge and awareness of networking issues pertaining to database design, optimization, and implementation within client server and web architecture.

Proficient in support duties such as performance tuning, monitoring, backup, recovery, and security.

Proficient with SQL, PL/SQL, Shell scripting.

Strong analytical and organizational skills, oral and written communications skills, problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Ability to meet deadlines and be flexible, work independently or as part of a team, and ability to self-motivate and be proactive.

Ability to mentor junior staff members of the team.

Ability to drive data base/data governance strategies and implementation across the enterprise.

Preferred

AWS Certification is a plus.
