Responsibilities

Focus on automation and drive datastores operational excellence to a new level.

Ensure that the platform’s services are using the right datastores infrastructure, designed and optimized for availability, latency, and performance.

Collaborate with the team to formulate a compelling vision for the systems the team owns.

Write software, automate, and build reliable systems to enable datastores to scale effortlessly.

Work across Engineering and Product Management to help shape the future direction of the platform’s datastores.

Up-level the team and those around you, and be open to learning.

Required

Deep knowledge of datastores including relational and nosql databases

Strong technical vision and ability to collaborate with team to formulate compelling vision for systems

Expertise in reliability and hands-on experience in building reliable systems

Experience in writing high-quality code in Python, Go, or equivalent languages

Strong Infrastructure as Code skills, preferably with Terraform and Kubernetes

Good understanding of cloud provider managed services, ideally AWS, and their application in context

Good knowledge of Unix/Linux systems, system libraries, file systems, and client-server protocols

Strong communication and documentation skills

Preferred

Experience with ElasticSearch, Kafka, MongoDB, MySQL, etc.

Experience in designing and implementing scalable and well-tested solutions for datastores

Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Kubernetes

Knowledge of cloud provider managed services, especially AWS

Understanding of Unix/Linux systems, system libraries, file systems, and client-server protocols

Experience in mentoring and up-leveling team members

Passion for learning and openness to new knowledge and skills
