Responsibilities
Advise product, engineering, and design teams on compliance with accessibility laws and regulations, including but not limited to: European Union Accessibility Legislation (EN 301 549), U.S. Communications and Video Accessibility Act (CVAA), Ontario Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and other international standards
Provide guidance on ensuring products and services are accessible to users with disabilities, aligning with both legal requirements and best practices in accessible design.
Draft, review, and update internal policies, guidelines, and training materials related to accessibility compliance.
Monitor the evolving legal landscape around digital accessibility and advise stakeholders on potential impacts to products, services, and business strategies.
Collaborate with internal teams to conduct risk assessments, manage potential legal risks, and ensure compliance with relevant accessibility standards during the product development cycle.
Support the review of digital product designs, updates, and new features to ensure they meet accessibility standards, advising teams on necessary adjustments and strategies for compliance.
Manage relationships with external regulators, stakeholders, and legal advisors related to accessibility and compliance issues.
Respond to and manage any legal disputes or claims related to accessibility, including providing expert advice on remediation and compliance strategies.

Required
J.D. or equivalent legal qualification.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in a legal or compliance role, with a strong focus on advising on accessibility compliance and product law.
Deep understanding of accessibility regulations, including the European Union’s EN 301 549, CVAA, AODA, and WCAG guidelines.
Proven experience working with digital products, apps, and websites to ensure compliance with accessibility laws.
Strong understanding of how accessibility regulations intersect with privacy, data protection, and other relevant product-related regulations.
Experience advising on international accessibility compliance issues, with an ability to interpret and navigate cross-jurisdictional legal requirements.
Ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders, such as product managers, engineers, and designers.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
A proactive and solution-oriented mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
