Responsibilities

Provide technical support to Marketing and Manufacturing for existing product offerings.
Evaluate alternative materials for cost reductions/improved performance.
Assist with new product development and product modification work.
Help develop product parameters, specifications, and engineering drawings.
Work with vendors concerning tooling and part fabrication issues.
Consider regulatory issues, safety regulations, application procedures, quality acceptance criteria, verification analysis, and design review requirements in the product development process.
Provide technical performance data to support the sale of new and modified products.
Extend existing products after testing and engineering evaluation to increase customer use.
Modify products for specialized jobs required by customers.
Handle field complaints and product failures, analyze problems, solutions, or recommendations.
Interpret engineering recommendations, customer specifications, and engineering drawings.
Attend technical meetings, conferences, and specialized courses.
Develop and conduct material test procedures to comply with industry and customer specifications.
Prepare and perform analysis in support of product development.
Use Pro-E, SolidWorks design, or Auto-Cad software.

Required

B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Three to seven years of product development or application engineering experience, in the markets PLP serves or with the products and materials PLP uses.
Ability to use a computer and applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
Travel Requirements:10-20%
Very good written and verbal skills required.
A team player.
