Responsibilities

Provides a wide range of student services of moderately complex scope.
Responsible for the academic advising, course scheduling, and administrative coordination of several undergraduate programs within the Institute of Arts and Humanities and the Analytical Writing Program.
Serves as the program liaison for all inquiries.
Advises majors and minors, conducts degree audits, responds to student questions, and processes petitions.
Serves at the liaison between the Registrar and faculty to manage course scheduling, process authorizations for language course enrollment, and process add/drops for courses.
Monitors course enrollments.
Provides varied support to faculty and department management.
Coordinates with the program director and faculty on curriculum and course offerings, facilitate course updates and additions, and revise catalog copy.
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Overtime may be required.

Required

Proven experience with college student populations.
Experience in student affairs operation and knowledge of higher education administration.
Ability to use counseling/advising principles and theories as they apply in a higher education environment.
Knowledge of university's undergraduate requirements, policies and procedures, and program requirements.
Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
Demonstrated experience working effectively in an academic setting with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students.
Demonstrated skill in analyzing needs and interests of diverse college student populations and with historically underrepresented minority students.
Multicultural competencies; ability to work with diverse populations.
Demonstrated knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion, and of the intersections of identities.
Knowledge of University-specific computer application programs and pertinent databases.
Ability to multi-task; verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proven ability to accurately communicate and explain detailed information with a high degree of accuracy.
Interpersonal skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer services skills (poise, active listening, tact, diplomacy, patience, discretion, assertiveness) to effectively interact with students, staff, faculty and the general public in-person, by telephone, and via e-mail.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member.
Knowledge of student immigration and visa processes pertaining to international students and scholars.
Ability in problem identification and reasoning.
Skills in service orientation, organization, active listening, and critical thinking.
Knowledge of University processes and procedures.
Understanding of University rules and regulations.
Demonstrated accuracy, high attention to detail, and ability to proof and correct own work with strict attention to detail.
Demonstrated skill in organizing work and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines despite frequent interruptions.
Ability to manage heavy workload and handle multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
