Responsibilities
Leads, manages, and coordinates a complex portfolio of internship programs and partnerships for the region, including but not limited to the Public Lands Corps (PLC) hiring authority and associated partner internships, Directorate Fellows Program (DFP), and Pathways Internship Program.
Establishes strategic partnerships across all programs within the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), Tribal entities, and non-governmental partners for the purpose of representing the Service and connecting with non-governmental counterparts to establish administrative and recruitment relationships.
Develops new and innovative programs that engage people through internship and fellowship employment opportunities with FWS programs and partners, with a focus on diversity and underrepresented groups.
Creates and disseminates standardized materials and tools for communicating the benefits and mechanics of the various FWS hiring programs and associated special hiring authorities for a variety of audiences.
Identifies and provides related training needs for programs to improve overall quality of the internship program, at a station, program, and/or region; and develops innovative solutions to practices and standards for youth education, engagement, and employment programs to ensure the currency of the FWS programs.

Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
Suitability for employment, as determined by background investigation.
Probationary Period: Selectees may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
Individuals assigned male at birth after 12-31-59 must be registered for the Selective Service.
One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the next lower grade level (equivalent to at least the GS-11) in the Federal government.
Experience with overseeing an internship and partnership programs for an agency or organization.
Assist in developing new and innovative programs that engage people through internship and fellowship employment opportunities, with a focus on diversity and underrepresented groups.
Communicates recruitment priorities to partners and ensure targeted recruitment efforts align.
Review youth programs for gaps, procedures, and standard operating procedures to be used by affected groups.
Time In Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet both eligibility and qualification requirements for the position of interest by the closing date of the JOA.
