Responsibilities
Developing, carrying out, and overseeing social science research activities and analyses from project inception through completion.
Designing, planning, and coordinating complex social science studies, including tasks such as developing evaluation questions, project objectives, hypotheses, data collection and measurement (qualitative and quantitative) strategies and instruments, and rigorous approaches for testing hypotheses.
Performing sophisticated quantitative and qualitative analysis of policy issues related to social science and natural hazard risk using appropriate research methodologies and presenting information and findings in analytical papers.
Serving as a recognized expert in identifying and understanding social science and natural hazard risk related agency priorities, relevant academic literature and research, and remaining abreast of recent advances in social and public policy evaluation related research.

You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.

Current federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements.
You must be able to obtain and maintain a Government credit card.
You must be able to deploy with little or no advance notice to anywhere in the United States and its territories for an extended period of time.
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service.
To qualify for this position at the GS-13 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Conducting statistical sampling analysis using social science principles and varied state-of-the-art statistical software to evaluate the effectiveness of complex programs.
Managing social science projects using statistical sampling approaches and inferential statistical analysis.
Performing analysis of policy issues related to natural hazard risk including social vulnerability and community resilience.
