Responsibilities

Responsible for planning, organizing and directing the activities of the Electric Safety and Reliability Branch (ESRB).
Supports the planning, setting and implementation of the Division and programmatic goals, objectives, priorities, measurements for success.
Identify, plan, and ensure execution of continuous improvements of the analysis undertaken, the work produced, and the process employed in addressing issues pertaining to ESRB.
Engage with external stakeholders and industry.
Develop formal and informal partnerships with state, federal and industry organizations.
Present at conferences, contribute to white papers, meeting with industry experts and stay current on developing industry trends and best practices.
Provides expert policy guidance on electric safety and reliability issues, including electric transmission distribution and generation.
Recommends policies or changes to existing regulations affecting the electric safety and reliability program.
Demonstrates excellent knowledge of regulated entities and top issues.
Identifies risks and ensure adoption of mitigation strategies.
Guides ESRB supervisors on current priorities, goals, key action items, allocation of staff, etc.
Ensures that ESRB has procedures in place to proactively identify threats related to electric transmission distribution and generation operations.
Provides regular input into ongoing efforts and checks-in on progress.
Assists with resolution of issues.
Reviews and approves documents.
Works directly with line staff to assist with the development of work products.
Provides tactical support, facilitates workshops, writes and edits reports, manages vendor contracts, writes briefings, and otherwise fills-in for gaps in staffing or skills.
Works with Director, Commission leadership, Legal Division, the Administrative Law Judge Division, Commissioner Advisors, each of the industry divisions, and the Public Advocates Office on strategic/high-impact issues.
Directs work on contentious or emergency issues.
Assists Commission leadership in developing external communication materials, including press releases, letters, talking points, etc.
Performs administrative functions, including tracking expenditures, preparing budget change proposals, ensuring that the branch develops and maintains applicable information, case tracking and work tracking databases, maintain current documentation of processes and procedures.

Required

Eligibility for the classification.
Valid California Drivers License (CDL).
Completed Application Package including the State Examination/Employment Application STD Form 678.
Resume is required and must be included.
Prepare and submit a narrative description of how your training, experience, and education qualifies you for the position.
Applicants who completed their education outside the United States must obtain and submit verification of United States course/degree equivalency.
