Responsibilities
Lead clean sheet engineering efforts and apply engineering principles to define and analyze designs.
Direct and review the work of other engineers and mechanical designers.
Develop assembly and test plans, coordinate testing, and validate product acceptance through testing.
Ensure customer satisfaction by keeping customers updated and informed throughout the project.
Perform programmatic activities such as creating project budgets, schedules, and design reviews.
Resolve technical challenges through broad technical knowledge of turbomachinery and related systems.
Function effectively in a team environment, delegate work, and provide oversight to more junior Project Engineers.
Work with Sales to help customers specify their requirements, and coordinate with manufacturing and technician groups for successful project execution.
Support manufacturing and procurement during project execution, address manufacturing issues, and provide oversight to more junior Project Engineers.

Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience working in high aptitude manufacturing environment.
Minimum six years (ten preferred) directly related technical turbopump design experience.
Minimum three years Project Engineering and/or Lead Engineer experience.
Experience with Systems Engineering and related tools.
Proven experience within a phasegate product design process.
Demonstrated experience with engineer to production products.
Applied understanding of traditional and non-traditional machining processes, and their implementation into designs, including: Lathe/Mill; EDM/ECM.
Additive Manufacturing (Metal and Plastic).
DFx for Cost and Risk Reduction.
Comprehensive understanding of rotating machinery design, analysis, test, and troubleshooting.
Ability to size / trade different turbine types.
Ability to size / trade pump impellers (full and partial emission preferred).
Comprehensive understanding in the following applicable areas of turbopump mechanical Design: Mechanical (Rotordynamics, stress, thermal, bearings, seals; Rotordynamics / Vibrations.
Preferred
Experience in Ansys and Solidworks.
Applicable training certificates (FEA, CFD, etc.) and successful completion of the Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) or Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) are desirable.
A Colorado State Professional Engineer License is desirable.
Overtime may be required.
Travel up to 10% of working time.
