Responsibilities
Develop conceptual and detailed designs for solar PV projects, including site layouts and annual energy yield estimates.
Collaborate with CAD designers, electrical, and civil engineers to finalize engineering designs, including PV system basis of design, layouts, and energy modeling assessments.
Optimize PV layouts for equipment placement, spacing, and shading efficiency, considering factors such as setbacks, local regulations, and environmental constraints.
Provide technical support throughout the development, engineering, construction, and testing phases of solar PV projects.
Review and approve electrical single-line and three-line diagrams, energy yield calculations, equipment specifications, and other engineering documents.
Participate in the preparation and review of contract exhibits, scopes of work, and technical documentation.
Conduct detailed performance analysis and testing of completed projects, using tools like PVsyst to assess energy production and system efficiency.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design processes, tools, and methodologies.
Provide mentorship and training to junior engineering staff.
Serve as a technical subject matter expert in discussions with clients, independent engineers, and suppliers.
Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to resolve technical issues and make informed commercial design decisions.
Support utility interconnection and permitting processes, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
Incorporate safety principles into project design and execution, adhering to company-wide safety protocols.
Develop proficiency in the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other applicable state and local codes.
Conduct on-site assessments and analysis using data collection tools and software.
Travel to project sites as needed to gather site-specific data and conduct surveys.

Required
Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in the design and engineering of commercial and utility-scale solar PV systems (100 kW to 20 MW).
Strong knowledge of PV system components, electrical design, and performance analysis.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, PV simulation software (e.g., PVsyst), and MS Office suite.
Familiarity with GIS software and tools for energy modeling and optimization.
Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
