Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and refine detailed financial models to evaluate capital projects, incorporating key financial metrics.
Conduct economic analysis to evaluate capital project performance and economic viability, identify leveraging data as the key drivers to project economics, and propose solutions on how to improve them.
Perform sensitivity testing, scenario analysis, and risk assessment to inform decision-making and provide stakeholders with a range of potential outcomes.
Conduct in-depth evaluations of proposed capital projects, primarily consisting of sustainable fuel production facilities utilizing Aether’s proprietary technology with various plant configurations, input feeds, product slates, and site parameters, and then analyze the economics in the context of the company goals (note: as these projects will involve the application of new technologies, and we will be running scenarios with different technical and economic constraints to assess both technology and project viability, this work can also be described as Techno-Economic Analysis).
Collaborate with engineering, technical teams, and project managers to collect accurate input data for economic models.
Calculate and interpret key financials and metrics, such as ROI, NPV, IRR, payback period, Debt service covered ratio (DSCR), levelized cost of production (LCOE).
Build the in-house project modeling templates/tools to enable rapid scenario evaluation, including training selected staff to use those templates/tools to run cases themselves.
Prepare and deliver presentations for senior management, synthesizing financial data to provide insights, recommendations, and project progress updates.
Develop dashboards and visual reports that integrate financial and techno-economic data for clear, ongoing project monitoring.
Identify and implement improvements in analysis processes, integrating advancements in project economic analysis methodologies and industry best practices.
Stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes impacting capital project economics, incorporating these insights into analysis.
Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and long-term plans for capital projects, ensuring they reflect both financial and technical considerations.
Track financial performance for active projects and report variances against budget and techno-economic expectations, providing insights for improvements.

Required
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
4+ years in financial modeling, including comprehensive asset-level cash flow analysis of capital project financial analysis, ideally within industrial, manufacturing, energy sectors, or investment banking.
Proficiency in financial and economic modeling using Excel – advanced user.
Advanced understanding of financial principles, including structured project financing.
Strong ability to analyze and interpret financial data, including familiarity with accounting principles.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills to convey complex financial and technical data to stakeholders in clear, actionable terms.
A keen eye for detail and an ability to sift through large data sets to extract meaningful information.
Excellent time management skills, including the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
Collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence decision-making.
