Project Manager - youth leadership program

Responsibilities
Oversee the strategic planning, design, and execution of the CA FWD’s youth leadership and development program, including:
Developing programmatic objectives and strategies that are aligned with the organization’s and partners’ overall goals and values.
Developing and monitoring relevant budgets and timelines.
Monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness, and making recommendations for improvements as needed.
Preparing reports and presentations to communicate progress and outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
Manage all aspects of the youth leadership and development program, including:
Annual program recruitment process.
Implementation of youth leadership development learning and training curriculum activities, including monthly calls and quarterly in-person training sessions.
Opportunities for program participants to gain professional development experience working on CA FWD programs – or with other strategic partners, including CSN – that align with CA FWD strategic priorities.
Program participant participation in the planning and implementation of the annual CA FWD Economic Summit, including supporting young leader specific networking events, staffing roles, and programming content that elevates the role of youth leadership in advancing California’s economic agenda to accelerate the shift toward a new California economy that puts sustainability, resilience, and inclusivity at the center.
Alumni network management and engagement.
Strategic partnership opportunities with other early and mid-career leadership development programs in California.
Support the Director of Communications on all program-related media and communication activities, including social media outreach and amplification.
Support advancement of CA FWD priorities across other program areas, including:
Developing and refining an individual work plan that complements other staff work plans and is aligned with the mission and goals of the organization.
Supporting and managing activities in the lead up to and implementation of the organization’s annual conference (the California Economic Summit) and other events.
Responding to grant opportunities and written requests for proposals.
Assistance or management of special projects, as assigned.
Contribute to the development of CA FWD papers, briefs, annual reports, blog posts, and other written pieces, as needed.
Support and collaborate across CA FWD on special projects, as needed.
Participate in other organizational meetings and activities, as appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
At least 4 years’ experience in program management, or related field.
Youth leadership and professional development program management experience, including setting program-specific learning objectives and outcomes and curriculum design.
Experience organizing and managing youth leadership activities, including in-person and virtual learning sessions.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent external presentation skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including working in a fully remote team environment.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Detail-oriented, including the ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously.
Proficient in Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, and more), other project management software (e.g. Asana), and Canva or other design software.
Knowledge of program budget management.
Ability to work flexible hours as required.
Ability to work in a remote environment.
Ability to travel within California when necessary, including to quarterly in-person staff retreats and the California Economic Summit.
Preferred
Experience working in the fields of economic development, climate change policy or implementation, public policy, planning, regional governance/collaboration, nonprofit leadership and/or board development, or other related fields.
