Responsibilities

Educate and train on copper piping systems with architects, engineers, mechanics, contractors, water utilities, inspectors, building officials and others, individually and through group presentations. Examples, but not limited to material and size selection, design considerations, joining methods, codes and standards.
Engage and support through training soldering and brazing at schools, local publicity, on-site demonstrations and other means, in proper specification and use of copper and copper alloy piping products and systems.
Support technical services team and field inquiries as subject matter expert in tube, fitting, system and joining copper systems.
Monitor code and standards development impacting the use of copper. Guide consultants when and where to align with strategies and priorities.
Support and own CDA’s copper, plumbing, and HVAC/R flagship training programs and national competitions.
Contact building, engineers, decision makers and others to promote copper and copper engineered systems and products, emphasizing proper installation and use.
Engage and schedule trainings or presentations with key audiences.
Attend, collect, and report information from industry activities and participation at conferences and trade shows attended.
Participate in key committees and speaker programs at meetings and professional societies.
Provide support for CDA member technical/marketing/sales staff.
Act as CDA representative to certain code and standards body, keeping schedules and listings favorable to copper.
Market development and relationship engagement with key stakeholders within travels – proactively schedule, build strategy for continued engagement, develop value proposition.
Supply interested parties with information regarding the use of copper and copper alloy products.
Ownership to initiate and drive new ideas with continues improvement for educating and copper advocacy.
Provide updates and content for CDA blogs, newsletters, technical publications, and website.
Support, own, and execute strategic initiatives and develop programs that elevate CDA and copper to stronger brand and material awareness.
Perform all necessary administrative duties (monthly expenses, CDA paperwork, reports, etc.).
Perform other duties needed or assigned by CDA.

Required

Candidate must have the required work visa(s) in place.
Working well through collaboration in a team setting.
Teaching and instructing in front of people through different strategies, audiences, and engagement (in-person, virtual, storytelling, video, hands on, lecture, etc.).
Relevant background in piping (plumbing, mechanical, refrigeration) design/specification, or marketing/sales/technical business development for metals or building materials or technology.
Knowledge of building construction or OEM design and decision process making.
Knowledge of building code and code change process.
Ability to identify and speak at different levels within a company (owner/c-suite through installer/fabricator).
Strong written and verbal communication skills, public speaking, business, and technical writing.
Project management.
Time and travel management.
Strong technology user skills: Microsoft Office package, proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
Budgeting finances for projects and as required for remote office.
Technical/associate degree in STEM field(s) with minimum 5 years of related experience; or, Minimum 10 years of related experience with proven growth record: engineering, piping systems, codes and standards, business development, business management, project management, technical marketing.
Up to 40%-60% of the time travel for work, primarily within the United States, during normal operating conditions. International travel may be required periodically (US passport required or must be obtainable in the first six months of employment).
