Responsibilities

Review imaging records, radiology reports, and diagnostic protocols in legal cases involving medical imaging (X-ray, MRI, CT, ultrasound, etc.).

Provide detailed, evidence-based reports assessing the accuracy, safety, and quality of radiological procedures.

Offer impartial expert opinions on cases involving misdiagnosis, imaging-related malpractice, and equipment misuse.

Deliver clear, professional expert witness testimony in legal proceedings, explaining complex radiological findings in accessible terms.

Collaborate with legal teams to help them understand imaging processes, diagnostic challenges, and standard practices in radiology.

Analyze adherence to clinical protocols for X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and other radiological procedures.

Provide opinions on cases involving imaging errors, misdiagnosis, or inappropriate use of imaging modalities.

Evaluate compliance with radiation protection standards and assess cases involving potential harm from overexposure.

Identify issues arising from faulty imaging techniques, equipment misuse, or insufficient training.

Act as an expert witness, clearly presenting impartial, evidence-based findings to legal teams, judges, and juries.

Required

UK-recognized qualification in Radiography (BSc in Radiography or equivalent) and registration with the HCPC.

Substantial experience in medical imaging, including X-rays, MRI, CT, ultrasound, or interventional radiology.

Comprehensive knowledge of radiology protocols, patient safety standards, and radiation protection regulations.

Proven ability to analyze imaging records and produce evidence-based, professional reports.

Preferred

Previous experience as an expert witness or in medical-legal consulting is highly valued.

Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, unbiased reports and explain complex radiology concepts to non-specialists.

Demonstrated ability to provide impartial, evidence-based opinions suitable for legal proceedings.
