Responsibilities
Build and develop relationships as the dedicated point of contact regarding our partnership with all of our sister companies and other businesses between the company and the customer.
Help to design solutions and help our customers solve their supply chain challenges.
Be knowledgeable on every aspect of the customer’s experience including understanding operations and fulfillment needs.
Monitor and assess customer portfolio, continually strengthening relationships with existing customers, and finding and developing new opportunities.
The Account Manager is involved in part of the sales process including light prospecting, lead generation, pricing, and closing of the business.
Oversees successful execution of day-to-day operations in their region.
Tracking and tracing shipments and providing superior service record with on-time performance for 95% or better.
Develop business with customers, accept/decline to negotiate pricing, rate competitiveness and assess service regularly.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
Respond to customers with a sense of urgency to provide an excellent customer experience.
Ensuring we maintain healthy win rates and margins.
Handle all customer escalations and drive issue resolution as quickly and decisively as possible. Proactively communicate all issues to your customers and mitigate risks.
Ensure we are properly set up and use any customer’s TMS systems effectively and to their standards with all shipment visibility (tracking) needs being met.
Help to drive carrier retention by ensuring they have the best experience within our organization. Also ensuring they continuously meet our compliance standards to partner with.
Secure regional opportunities for freight and coordinate proper facilitation to the team.
Train/mentor new carrier reps on the Standard Logistics platforms and help drive our initiatives from day one.
Develop individuals on your team to be self-sufficient while meeting the goals/expectations of the organization.
While getting them up to speed, you will quote/secure their opportunities to ensure we are priced effectively, negotiating as needed, and winning the right freight mix and profits.
Ability & willingness to support carrier management duties as needed by the business.
Advanced analytics
Constant reviewing of account health and performance metrics with the customer to reaffirm the mutually beneficial relationship and solidify our commitment to servicing the account.
Collaborate with leadership to develop pricing strategies & Identify opportunities to further grow market share by selling Standard Logistics diverse portfolio of services.
Manage operations expectations through the creation and utilization of performance metrics. Responsible for attaining monthly individual goals which lead to meeting or exceeding region targets.
Leverage brokerage pricing techniques and tools, and market awareness and knowledge to effectively secure business while building a customer portfolio.
Working in conjunction with internal teams to achieve territorial balance and effective collaboration of capacity and freight. Continuously promoting our team-oriented environment.
Participate in continued education: Leadership, Business and Industry.
Travel to customer sites when needed.

Required
H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent required
5+ years experience in full-cycle Freight Brokerage/Third Party Logistics required
Notable transportation/logistics dispatching foundation
Advanced verbal and written communication skills
Advanced organizational development skills
Advanced problem solving and decision making skills
Advanced skills in managing and negotiating with external vendors/suppliers
Advanced knowledge of the transportation industry
Advanced knowledge of 3PL/ Freight Brokerage operations and programs
Advanced knowledge of truck transportation rules and regulations
Advanced knowledge of truck safety, DOT, CSA, HOS
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office & Google suite
Advanced knowledge of distribution support systems, such as TMS, Tableau, Market Analysis tools
Preferred
Experience with flatbed and/or hazardous materials
Experience with LTL freight brokerage
Experience in a start-up environment
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university and/or equivalent industry
Degree in supply chain/logistics, business administration, engineering, finance and accounting
