Responsibilities

Monitor state legislation, legislative calendars, meetings, and hearings
Analyze legislation related to digital trust and safety and online content moderation
Liaise with legislative staff to confirm questions regarding legislative proceedings
Assist the State Policy Director with development and implementation of effective outreach strategies to bring CCIA’s positions on state issues to the attention of lawmakers
Support the establishment and management of coalitions to advance legislation in support of member interests, including but not limited to the regulation of digital services’ trust and safety operations
Support the development of advocacy materials (e.g., slide decks, talking points, memos, issue briefs)
Collaborate with the State Policy Director to develop and execute research plans to support the CCIA’s state policy objectives
Monitor media and events related to state technology issues
Read and summarize articles, policy papers, and legal briefs; maintain a list of resources to support state advocacy
Coordinate the delivery of public comment on legislation
Participate in meetings with CCIA members, coalitions, and state policymakers
Assist with tracking deadlines, deliverables, and performance metrics
Monitor activities of key players in the tech space

Required

A minimum of 4 years professional experience working with policymakers and staff, ideally at the state level
Broad substantive knowledge of technology policy, preferably with a focus on digital trust and safety and/or online content moderation
In-depth understanding of state government structures, operations, and politics
Strong organizational and project management skills
Familiarity with the products and services of CCIA member companies
Experience in issue advocacy and/or campaigning at the state level
Ability to think strategically and creatively, adjusting to changes in circumstances
Experience working with third-party consultants
Strong political awareness and ability to approach issues through a nonpartisan lens
Experience using legislative tracking tools such as Quorum or FiscalNote
Willingness to travel within the U.S. as needed
