Responsibilities
Developing and providing oversight of strategic direction, priorities, and goals for the Corporate MI-QA Program and monitoring MI-QA Performance at sites.
Developing and maintaining corporate MI-QA Standards and Guidelines on requirements for MI-QA Program compliance.
Developing and leading MI-QA related training to assure consistent and effective implementation of the requirements.
Integration of external best practices through involvement with outside networks such as AIChE- Center for Chemical Process Safety, Materials Technology Institute and similar groups.
Leading initiatives to improve compliance and continuously improve the safety and reliability of facility assets to sustain operational excellence.
Developing MI-QA auditors and auditing MI-QA compliance at sites.
Leading a network of Site MI-QA leaders to develop resources, leverage best practices, sharing incident learnings, etc.
Defining, maintaining, and interpreting national and industry standards and practices associated with the implementation of the MI-QA program in accordance with recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices (RAGAGEPs).
Consulting with sites to develop the maintenance strategies and guidance for PSM Critical Equipment promoting best practices.
Driving standardization and consistency of MI-QA, where practical.
Identifying and creating reporting mechanisms for the key MI-QA performance metrics and trends.
Making the business case, defining the functional requirements, identifying, and vetting standardized tools to support site implementation of MI-QA engaging stakeholders across the organization.
Leading the MI-QA Gap Closure Initiative; consulting on assessments and the development of gap closure plans, status tracking and reporting.
Accumulation of proven in use and reliability data across the enterprise for validation and support of the risk assessment process.
Consulting with facilities on best practices for decontamination/decommissioning of equipment at asset end of life or for repair.
Helping to identify and implement the most effective maintenance training methods and approaches that impact equipment integrity.
Periodic reviewing and reporting of the MI-QA KPIs and trends, focused reviews/audit findings, and incident learnings.
Leading and/or participating in MI related incident investigations, root cause analyses and identification of failure mechanisms.
Participating in analysis of unplanned equipment failures and applying lessons learned to improve asset performance.
Developing an effective QA/QC process for the construction/installation of new and replacement equipment and ensuring the suitability of maintenance materials and spare parts in accordance with applicable corporate industry standards, codes, and practices.

Required
Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a concentration in Mechanical, Chemical, Material Science
Minimum of 5-7 years in leading/managing a Mechanical Integrity team or program, and 10+ years in related Engineering occupation
Experience with Asset Integrity and Reliability Management Systems Usage or Development
Knowledge of “fit for service” evaluations in accordance with API 579-1/ASME FFS-1
Working knowledge and comprehension of API 580/581 Risk Based Inspection Methodologies and practices
Experience and knowledge of all API Fixed Equipment Inspection Standards (e.g., API 510, 570, 620 and 653) including QA Source Inspections
Experience and understanding of API 571 Damage Mechanisms
Experience with IEC/ISA- 61511 and ISA 91 for instrumented protection layers
Experience in US regulatory OSHA 1910.119 Process Safety and 40 CFR Part 68 Accident Prevention Rule regulatory requirements
Experience in Asset Integrity and Reliability, Maintenance, Equipment Design, Inspection, Commissioning, Decommissioning, and Repairs
Proven written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with Corporate, Business, site management and field operations personnel
Willingness to travel 25%-30% of the time
Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, team building and influencing skills
Preferred
Master’s degree in engineering or science related field
Experience working in the chemicals, oil or gas industry
Experience with or knowledge of Equipment Inspections and related work practices
Experience in root cause investigation techniques (ABS RCA® methodology, etc.)
