Responsibilities
Conduct independent examinations of financial records for taxpayers with unique audit features
Perform complex and specialized audits, ensuring compliance with tax laws
Justify and defend audit findings through comprehensive communication
Write detailed reports of examinations that propose adjustments based on findings
Investigate beyond tax returns to identify potential discrepancies in tax filings

Required
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or related field with at least eighteen semester hours of accounting
One year of experience as a Field Auditor I or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated experience in performing independent examinations of sales and use tax or complex corporate returns
Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal tax issues, auditing, and accounting principles
Experience justifying and defending audit findings, particularly for large complex taxpayers
Preferred
Experience working with Fortune 500 companies
Familiarity with computer-assisted/statistical sample auditing techniques
Expertise in various accounting systems, including those specific to certain industries
Additional certifications in accounting or auditing
Previous experience in a government or public sector auditing role
