Responsibilities
Conduct independent examinations of financial records for complex audits
Review and audit tax schedules for compliance with statutes
Communicate audit findings and write comprehensive examination reports
Investigate discrepancies beyond reported tax returns
Utilize various accounting systems to make complex tax determinations

Required
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or a related field with at least 18 semester hours of accounting
One year of experience as a Field Auditor I or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated experience in performing independent examinations of sales and use tax and/or complex corporate returns
Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal tax issues and auditing principles
Experience justifying and defending audit findings
Preferred
Experience working with large complex (Fortune 500) taxpayers
Additional years of experience in auditing or related fields
Advanced certifications in accounting or auditing
Familiarity with computer-assisted statistical sample auditing methods
Knowledge of tax compliance regulations specific to North Carolina
