Responsibilities
Handles and prepares correspondence for department personnel as assigned
Determines layout of documents and organizes same based on audience and word processing capabilities
Possesses satisfactory knowledge of medical terminology
Coordinates work and that of others, as required
Facilitates staff activities based on personal observation and feedback form other personnel
Ensures meeting times and appointments are clearly communicated, and are in accordance with other priorities, time-frames and dates desired
Ensures that minutes of meetings are prepared in an effective manner based on accuracy and thoroughness of documentation
Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of work station
Maintains a variety of departmental records and logs by manually writing information as well as entering information into computerized database
Checks entries for accuracy and periodically compiles same into report format
Maintains records in an orderly manner and in accordance with established record keeping system
Ensures quality and timeliness with which materials are photocopied (based on extent to which materials are ready by time/date desired, appearance of photocopied materials)
Opens, reviews, sorts, dates, stamps and distributes mail received
Responds to routine and emergency inquiries in a timely manner

Required
High School Diploma or Equivalency
Prior secretarial experience in a hospital or office environment
