Responsibilities

Evaluate software, web, and mobile application user interfaces (UI) for Section 508 compliance
Produce clearly written, specific, actionable recommendations for remediation of accessibility issues
Provide accessibility oversight in the UI planning and design process
Work with client teams to triage changes that may have an accessibility impact
Develop accessibility test plans and test cases
Remediate electronic documents in common formats (MS Office, PDF)
Advocate for processes that support mature accessibility practices in TSS ACICS client programs
Assess and write Accessibility Conformance Reports for applications developed by vendors and internal teams using the Voluntary Product Assessment Template (VPAT)
Use accessibility testing software, such as the Accessibility Management Platform (AMP), ANDI, Axe DevTools, Accessibility Insights, Color Contrast Analyzer, Microsoft Inspect, and/or Oracle Java Access Inspector
Collaborate and coordinate with Section 508 teams at client agencies
Work with application vendors to identify accessibility issues and promote remediation

Required

5 + years of related experience
Bachelor’s Degree in areas applicable to the job description (or equivalent years of experience)
5 years of relevant experience in Software Testing, UI/UX, Usability, Accessibility/Section 508, or some combination thereof
Strong communication skills, including the ability to create detailed, clear narrative reports and communicate recommendations in plain language
Experience implementing Section 508 compliance requirements for applications, media and electronic documents
Experience with use of assistive technology for personal use or validation
Knowledge of accessible design practices and effective incorporation of accessibility into the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with subject matter experts to conduct research, resolve issues, and develop recommendations.
US CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED

Preferred

Working understanding of agile methodologies
Strong work ethic and interest in developing new skills on the job
Good work product and project-task management experience
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal oversight
Experience with organizations providing technology solutions or services to the disability community
Experience with training, technical writing or other areas that demonstrate experience with user-facing communications.
DHS Trusted Tester
IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC)
IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS)
IAAP Accessible Document Specialist (ADS)
