Responsibilities
Prepare corporate financial statements in a timely fashion
Provides oversight to cash flow in real-time as well as conducting monthly bank reconciliation
Completes month-end and year-end close processes
Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation
Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets
Oversees the production of monthly financial reports; ensures the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards
Responsible for tax planning throughout the fiscal year; provides information and documentation to facilitate work with external accountants in preparing annual corporate tax returns
Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies
Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned
Support the company in optimizing its financial transactions and systems
Provide backup to Payroll Manager and Director, Client Operations

Required
Demonstrated experience as an Accountant
Expert-level user of Quick Books Desktop
A Microsoft Excel All-Star user comfortable with creating, updating, and troubleshooting complex formulas
Ability to create and manage corporate budgets
Thorough understanding of budgetary and accounting principles, practices, and policies
Excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail
Ability to both work independently and collaboratively with a remote team of colleagues
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Ability to multitask and adjust to fast-paced changes and time-sensitive deadlines
Elevated level of professionalism with the ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information
Effective communication skills in both written and verbal formats
Intermediate skills with other Microsoft Office Suite applications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration AND at least 5 years of related experience
Preferred
Certified Public Accountant designation preferred
Previous hands-on work experience in small- to mid-size organization (less than two hundred employees) with the ability to adapt and adjust to a rapidly growing/changing environment
Additional previous work experience in payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and/or supply chain
Familiarity with multi-state payroll considerations, including impact on both employee and corporate taxes
Working knowledge of numerous finance software platforms
Experience with Professional Employment Organizations (PEOs) and their service offerings
