Responsibilities

Assume responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of the trial balance and preparation of the monthly draft financial statements and management reporting package. Accuracy of the trial balance includes coordinating the month end close, processing all monthly journal entries, reconciling all balance sheet accounts, and reviewing the trial balance for accuracy and completeness.
Preparation of the draft financial statements, including profit and loss statements – with projections through year end and analytical commentary on the financial results; a balance sheet; cash projections; and department budget reports.
Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures. Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize the protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow.
Review and update the fixed asset schedule by recording new hardware and software costs, ensuring that proper depreciation has been calculated and booked and maintain a fixed asset rollforward.
Assist in the preparation of the company’s monthly capitalized development analysis, ensuring that employee and consultant labor is being recorded to the correct jobs and that the numbers are reasonable and in accordance with GAAP.
AP/AR/billing; payroll; collections; disbursements.
Assist in the budget process including reviewing department budget proposals to understand assumptions; consolidate department budgets into the corporate budget; throughout the year analyze variances and work with department managers to control spending and meet budget objectives.
Assist with the annual audit, including planning, coordination, execution, and report preparation.
Prepare data requests for the external tax firm
Participate in the implementation of a new accounting system
Occasionally work with the development team on the creation of new reports in an effort to streamline efficiency
Develop a reputation within the company as a leader who others want to partner with because of his/her demonstrated resourcefulness and success.
Additional ad-hoc operational responsibilities as required.

Required

A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience, audit experience a plus
Strong technical skills and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Strong attention to details
Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
Motivated to seek process and internal control improvements
Comfortable working with large data sets
Strong excel skills – vlookups, pivot tables

Preferred

QuickBooks online experience a plus
Knowledge of capitalized software development a plus
