Responsibilities
Accounts Payable and Vendor Ledger Reconciliation : Lead the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors while maintaining up-to-date and reconciled vendor ledgers.
Resident Ledger Management : Oversee resident ledger updates and maintenance, ensuring all transactions, adjustments, and balances are accurately recorded.
Bank Reconciliation and Banking Data Entry : Record daily banking activities and perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
Credit Card and Line of Credit Reconciliation : Manage the data entry and reconciliation of credit card and line of credit transactions, ensuring consistency with financial records.
Abatement Loss and Inventory Reconciliation : Track and reconcile abatement losses and inventory usage, ensuring these are accurately reflected in financial reports.
Property Pass-Through Expenses : Manage the billing and reconciliation of pass-through property expenses, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
Move-Out Review and Disposition Letters : Conduct weekly reviews of tenant move-outs and generate timely disposition letters in compliance with company policies.
Security Deposits and Bad Debt Reconciliation : Perform monthly reconciliations of security deposits and update bad debt entries to ensure accurate recollection of financial statements.
Management, Construction, and Leasing Fees : Oversee the calculation and reconciliation of management, construction, and leasing fees for Riparian Management LLC.
Payroll Reconciliation : Assist with payroll reconciliation, ensuring that all payroll-related financial data is accurate and up to date.
Fixed Asset Acquisitions : Record and reconcile new fixed asset acquisitions, ensuring proper tracking and accounting.
Sponsor Fee Calculation and Intercompany Transfers : Calculate monthly sponsor fees and manage intercompany transfers, ensuring these transactions are reconciled accurately.
REA Accounting Tasks : Oversee and manage accounting tasks related to REA Bookkeepers, ensuring proper tracking and completion of tasks.
Journal Entries : Prepare and post monthly journal entries provided by the Controller, ensuring alignment with the company's financial reporting.
AppFolio Reporting and Balance Sheet Reconciliation : Use AppFolio software to assist with financial reporting and balance sheet reconciliations, supporting the overall accuracy of financial statements.
Annual Audit and Tax Preparation Support : Work with the Controller to provide yearly audit support requests and tax requests
Annual 1099 Reporting : Assist in reviewing, preparing, and submitting annual 1099 reports to ensure compliance with IRS requirements.

Required
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and a CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, real estate experience, and audit experience
Proven experience with general ledger accounting and financial statement preparation.
Strong understanding of GAAP and compliance with financial reporting standards.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Perform diverse business functions to facilitate the success of the finance team and contribute to the organization's overall objectives.
Preferred
Proficiency in accounting software; experience with AppFolio or property management accounting systems is preferred.
Experience in the real estate or property management industry is a plus.
