Responsibilities
Thoroughly reviews provider documentation and assigns ICD 10, ICD 10 PCS, and or CPT codes to assigned patient types
Accurately abstracts above records for required data elements to be used for research, billing and reimbursement.
Knowledge of APR DRG, MS DRG, or APC grouping classification systems
Ensures accurate SOI, ROM, HCC assignment
Writes compliant and effective queries as needed
Assigns charge codes to certain revenue codes
Assists with training/mentoring new associates as needed
Teamwork and being a highly engaged associate
Achieves all the above while maintaining established productivity and accuracy goals
Other duties as assigned

Required
HS Diploma
Will take new graduates from HIM technical colleges with RHIT and train

Preferred
Associates Degree, Bachelor’s Degree in HIM or related Health care field
3-5 Years of experience at tertiary teaching acute care hospital
RHIT, CPC or RN
