Responsibilities
Reviews, drafts and negotiates agreements and transaction documents in compliance with applicable policies and legal and ethical standards, without supervision, including in: Responding, within established guidelines, to customers’ RFP/RFQs, vendor qualification documents and contractual requests; Drafting and negotiating with customers, appropriate contractual language to reflect the business interests and policies of the parties;
Takes the Contracts Lead role on: Complex international and multi-BU project contracts; Complex frame agreements (multi-BU & -WA);
Act as Global Contracts Lead role on Global Strategic Accounts;
Develops and communicates creative solutions and mitigation strategies to key negotiation points;
May mentor and train Contracts Americas personnel
Provides advice during the approval process to assist business owners in making informed decisions and secure appropriate approvals;
Interfaces with vendors, customers, members of the legal team and other Emerson stakeholders to bring deals to closure;
Analyses business, financial, and legal risks;
Researches information on existing agreements and contractual programs, assisting with analysis and compiling data for reports;
Provides contract-related mentorship to Procurement, Supply Chain, Sales, Project Management and other stakeholders;
Legal research;
Provides legal advice and interpretation of legal matters, including the application of law;
Provides direction to outside counsel on routine matters.

Required
Law Degree
Relevant years of work experience in a contracts-related role commensurate with the level of the position.
Licensed to practice law in US or Emerson applicable jurisdiction
Strong Coaching & mentoring skills
Intermediate MS Office skills
Excellent oral and written English
Excellent negotiation skills
Extensive knowledge of Contract law & principles
Commercial provisions such as warranty, liquidated damages/penalties, payment & freight terms, documentary credits and bank guarantees/sureties
Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.

4+ years of work experience in a contracts-related role
