Responsibilities

Developing classroom-based assessments (to be implemented by special education teachers) for students with moderate to severe disabilities.
Targeted learning domains to assess may include, but are not limited to: ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, Adaptive Skills, Communication Skills, Behavioral Skills, and Transition Skills. Assessments must address content area learning standards that will be specified in the curriculum scope and sequence OR normed developmental progressions. All assessment content must be adapted to meet the developmental needs of targeted student ability levels.
Creating specifications for technology-based data collection, reporting, and analysis features and functionality at the student, classroom, and school level.
Creating classroom-based AND technology-based assessment content and supports across learning domains (academic, social emotional, adaptive, cognitive, language development, behavioral) for children and young adults with moderate to severe disabilities, ages 18 months through 22 years.
Aligning assessment content to state and national standards and normed developmental progressions.
Creating and designing assessments based on classroom-based lesson plans in TeachTown curricula and state and national standards. Targeted learning domains may include, but are not limited to: ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, Adaptive Skills, Communication Skills, and Transition Skills.
When given a short-term or long-term assessment project, developing an aggressive but achievable project plan with carefully task-analyzed steps toward project goal.
Working both independently on specific development tasks and collaboratively with the development team on broader assessment planning, decision-making, and execution.
Systematically communicating project progress to Editorial Directors and other Curriculum Team members.
Troubleshooting project progress challenges and implementing effective solutions.
Creating technology-based assessments that provide instruction in specific content area learning standards using our proprietary lesson authoring software.
Selecting images for assessments. Images should be appropriate for the concepts and skills being taught as well as the age of the target population.
Review, proofreading, and copy-editing curriculum content and supporting documentation, including but not limited to assessments, lesson plans, and professional development materials.

Required

Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field required.
Minimum of 5 years of special education teaching experience with preschool, elementary, middle school, and/or high school students with disabilities, including academic content (i.e., ELA, Math, Science, and/or Social Studies) and/or a highly-specialized content area (i.e., speech language therapy, Transition skills).
At least 2 years of experience training teachers and/or implementing school- or district-wide assessment and data collection/analysis initiatives to support student growth, including planning how to use assessment data to inform instruction.
At least 2 years of experience developing or evaluating assessment and data collection/analysis tools or programs.
All applicants will be required to submit a writing sample with their application.
