Responsibilities
Create new ingest batch/streaming pipelines and recommend tools/tech stack improvements.
Possess an in-depth understanding of data structures and governance.
Work with cloud computing platforms and schema-less big data storage solutions.
Collaborate with machine learning and data science teams to enhance scale and efficiency.
Foster a culture of collaboration with DevOps and internal stakeholders.
Identify and assign new work, create automated tests, and set up toolsets and procedures.
Stay updated on new technologies, recommend tools, and create documentation for developers and business users.
Maintain cloud-based platforms and troubleshoot functional and data issues.

Required
Embrace a ‘builder’ mentality to push the business forward
8+ years experience in a software developer role
4+ years of experience as a data engineer
Proficient with AWS, Python and Pyspark
Experience with EMR, S3, SNS, Kafka, Databricks, Athena, Kinesis, Lambda and Airflow
Experience with distributed data technologies (e.g. Spark)
Proficient with Linux environment
Passion for media and news
B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
Preferred
Deep understanding of modern cloud computing platforms and concepts (AWS preferred)
Familiar with CDK could be helpful
Sr member of the team
8+ years’ worth of experience in Data engineering
4+ years with python/pyspark
Strong in AWS
Strong knowledge in networking
Strong coding experience
Strong in Python
