Responsibilities

Develop, inspect, mine, transform, and analyze data to create descriptive and predictive models.

Apply data wrangling tools including ETL/ELT, data crawlers/classifiers, and programming languages.

Apply data mining, machine learning, and statistical analysis on data.

Interpret and present findings using data discovery and visualization tools.

Create and manage Power BI reports and dashboards.

Optimize database performance and ensure efficient storage and retrieval of data in AWS environment.

Monitor and manage data workflows for reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency.

Implement best practices for data security, privacy, and compliance.

Perform data quality checks and implement data validation mechanisms.

Conduct data analysis, visualization, statistical analysis, and data modeling.

Provide support for data-related issues and troubleshoot performance problems.

Collaborate with multiple teams in troubleshooting technical or non-technical issues.

Develop systems capable of processing large volumes of documents.

Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, Technology, and related fields with 8+ years of experience. On a case-by-case basis, work experience may be considered in lieu of a STEM degree for highly qualified candidates.

4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Analyst, with a focus on AWS technologies.

AWS Associate certification is required; however, on a case-by-case basis, candidates who do not have an active AWS Associate certification (or higher) will be required to earn one within 9 months of employment.

Experience with building and managing data pipelines using AWS services such as Glue, Lambda, S3, Redshift, and Athena.

Experience with machine learning concepts and experience supporting ML workloads on AWS.

Experience with Python, ETL processes, data warehousing concepts, database systems, SQL, Power BI reports and administration, data analysis, data visualization, statistical analysis, and data modeling.

Proficiency with Git, GitHub, and JIRA.

Strong system design, application programming, and “clean code” skills.

Strong coding skills demonstrated by frequent, smooth, professional GitHub Pull Requests (PR) reviews.

Strong design skills including the ability to create diagrams and write design documentation independently.

Understanding of systems design and architecture.

Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts to a wide variety of individuals with varying technical skills.

Strong understanding of Scrum and Agile.

Demonstrated ability to execute in an agile environment, especially Scrum and/or Kanban.

Demonstrated ability to define backlog items in JIRA and assist with refinement of product backlogs.

Team player with demonstrated ability to work well within a team, work independently, meet deadlines, independently learn new technologies, collaborate, take direction, take initiative, drive efforts, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Must be inquisitive and resourceful, able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.

Preferred

AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate.

AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty.

Experience in AWS technologies such as Aurora, DynamoDB, DAX, ElastiCache, Kinesis, EventBridge, Lake Formation, Glue, Lambda, S3, S3 Glacier, SQS, SNS, RDS, Redshift, IAM, KMS, DMS, SCT, VPC, OpenSearch, CloudWatch, and CloudFormation.

Experience with data governance and data cataloging.
