Responsibilities

Own and drive the vision, strategy and roadmap for Data Science and lead the team to execute. Specifically, mature our approach to analytics, moving away from descriptive analytics towards more predictive & prescriptive

Implement an approach for holistic prioritization to ensure resources are aligned to the highest impact and highest value initiatives

Build and scale a world class, multi-geo team of professionals & leaders

Engage with Product & Engineering teams to deliver analytics and Data Science solutions to improve Confluent’s products, adoption, and customer consumption

Partner with GTM to evolve our approach to Customer 360, including building additional predictive models

Engineering, Business Systems, and functional operation teams, to align on Data teams’ dependencies, roadmap, priorities, engagement model, and key processes

Be a thought leader, identify high impact project opportunities and process changes, and improve productivity of the overall Data Team

Required

15+ years of experience within complex Data Science orgs of which at least 8 years in a leadership capacity at second or third level management of teams 30+ across multiple geographies

Proven experience implementing a data culture and affecting positive change in all functional areas (GTM, marketing, product, finance, etc.) of a high growth, cloud, enterprise B2B software company of $1b+ in revenue with significant business acumen of those landscapes

Strong ability to communicate cross-functionally, derive requirements and architect; to synthesize, simplify and explain complex problems and present solutions to different types of audiences, including executives

Experience implementing complex machine learning analytical models for predictive business outcomes

Deep knowledge of modern data stack and infrastructures, i.e., Cloud Data warehouse, data integration tools, Airflow, DBT, Tableau, etc.

Preferred

Working knowledge of programming languages, i.e. SQL, Python, Java/Scala

Experience with Kafka or Confluent in a Production environment

Experience managing data engineering teams
