Responsibilities

Data Analysis: Perform in-depth data analysis of various security signals to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement related to Oportun's financial products.

Market Research: Stay updated on various threat vectors, and incorporate appropriate defenses into the Oportun platform, providing insights and recommendations for product enhancements.

Product Development: Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and designers to contribute to the development and improvement of financial products and the platform.

A/B Testing: Plan, execute, and analyze A/B tests to evaluate the performance of product changes and optimize features.

Customer Insights: Leverage customer feedback, surveys, and research to understand user behavior, preferences, and pain points.

Reporting: Create and maintain detailed reports and dashboards to track the security posture and product performance and KPIs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various teams, including marketing, compliance, and operations, to align product strategies with business goals.

Documentation: Document findings, insights, and recommendations for product enhancements and communicate them effectively to stakeholders.

Required

Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science or a relevant field

Demonstrated focus on Computer/Network/Information Security

10+ years of experience working as a Software Engineer (Individual Contributor)

3+ years of experience working as an Engineering Manager, managing people.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive strategic decision-making.

Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex problems and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

Preferred

Master’s degree in computer/network/information security

IC work in Security including but not limited to Threat Modeling, vulnerability management, malware analysis, DoS prevention/mitigation, Authentication, Authorization, Accounting, Audit pipelines etc

Ability to bring a security focus across all 7 layers

Demonstrated delivery of impactful security enhancements/defenses in distributed systems

Demonstrated ability to think in a DiD model Knowledge of A/B testing

Familiarity with financial products and services
