Responsibilities

Develop mechanistic, physics-based ICME models and model workflows for alloy compositions and process development.
Lead ICME-based alloy design initiatives, with a particular emphasis on corrosion and environmental effects (e.g., oxidation/reducing environments, stress-corrosion cracking, hydrogen embrittlement).
Work in a fast-paced innovative environment requiring creativity to deliver on challenging project and software deliverables.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and deliverables.
Effective management of complex multi-faceted projects.
Proposal development and writing to capture external R&D funds.
Mentorship of junior engineering staff.
Interact directly with industry and government clients.
Present and technical conferences.
Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code.

Required

Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or a related field.
Experience with Integrated computational materials engineering (ICME).
Experience with CALPHAD modeling.
Experience with corrosion/environmental effects on materials (e.g., oxidation).
Experience working in a research environment.
Understanding of fundamental thermodynamics, kinetics, and mechanics of materials.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills.

Preferred

Graduate level degree in Materials Science and Engineering preferred.
Proficient in object-oriented python coding.
Experience with other ICME approaches (e.g., mechanistic structure-property modeling, Phase Field, Atomistics, Molecular statics/dynamics, DFT, CPFEM, etc.).
Experience designing alloys using ICME.
Advanced experimental materials science research experience.
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
Experience with metal additive manufacturing techniques.
