Responsibilities

Put your engineering talent to the ultimate test at General Dynamics Mission Systems.
Design and plan network systems by providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
Apply technical expertise to provide specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for efficient solutions to meet business needs.
Provide technical support to customers in installing and troubleshooting issues with GDMS Cyber products.
Teach customers how to successfully deploy, configure, and install products within their networks.
Perform technical product support via telephone, email, and on occasion, via field support.
Perform hardware and software system testing and configuration.
Develop, review, and interpret technical documentation, including network diagrams.
Perform onsite and offsite technical training on GDMS products.
Present and facilitate technical information concisely and clearly.
Provide product training to stimulate and motivate students.
Develop and proofread training materials.
Extend knowledge through internal and external training, self-motivated training, and certifications.
Function independently in a multitasking environment and as a teammate.
Communicate with all levels of management, employees, and customers.
Participate in rotating, after-hours, on-call telephone support.
Travel 25% after instructor qualification.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in a related specialized area or field or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire
U.S. citizenship is required
Subject matter expert (SME) in one discipline/field and developing working knowledge in adjacent disciplines/fields
Self-motivated with ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Solid written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively in interpersonal situations and before large groups of people/students
Ability to handle more complex assignments and grasp and apply new information quickly

Security + Certification
Network + Certification

Preferred

Strong ability to develop solutions to highly complex problems that require significant ingenuity, innovation and creativity
Ability to lead a team and mentor staff
Strong independent judgement
Customer Service skills including active listening, patience, empathy and the ability to make the customer’s issues your own
Troubleshooting skills to analyze and resolve network issues
Ability to instruct and demonstrate to others about TCP-IP including the OSI Model, Network Routing and Subnetting in classrooms, briefings, as well as one-on-one support calls and correspondence
Understanding of Network protocols including TFTP and FTP, SMTP, Telnet, Address Resolution Protocol (ARP), DNS, OSPF, GRE Tunnels, RIP, TCP and UDP to resolve customer issues and address the questions of your students
Verbal and writing skills to document the customer’s issues, provide verbal and written responses to customer issues, provide step by step instructions and potential solutions and assistance to Federal employees, contractors and members of the U.S. Armed Forces
Understanding of Network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls to evaluate customer network diagrams in a support role as well describe how GDMS products work in a student’s environment
